FAQ

Frequently asked questions

General information — not personalized legal or medical advice.

How much does medical repatriation cost?

It depends on distance, ambulance type (A/B/C), crew and equipment. On the Romanian market, international ground transport is often estimated in EUR per round-trip kilometre; the exact quote follows the assessment. Commercial-flight escort and air ambulance have different cost structures.

Does CNAS pay for international transport?

As a rule, cross-border healthcare reimbursement covers eligible medical services, not travel/transport costs. Private medical transport is usually paid by the patient, by travel insurance or by the assistance company.

Does travel insurance cover repatriation?

It depends on the policy, its limits, exclusions and pre-authorisation requirements. Mediurg International supplies the mission documents for the claim file; we do not guarantee reimbursement.

When do I choose ground ambulance and when flight escort?

Ground ICU ambulance suits many European routes where continuous monitoring is needed. Commercial-flight escort is for stable, fit-to-fly patients over long distances. Unstable patients may require a dedicated air ambulance.

Do you handle urgent cases?

We organise privately funded assisted medical transfers and repatriations, including fast mobilisation. Emergencies on Romanian territory are handled through the single emergency number 112.

Are you authorised?

Yes. Authorisation documents are available on the “Certifications & authorisations” page in the site footer.
